Arani Sen

Rev Canon Arani Sen is the Senior Chaplain and holds the post Chancellor at Holy Trinity Pro-Cathedral. Arani has responsibility for the overall vision, worship and missional activities of Holy Trinity. He oversees the 1030 service but is involved in allthe diverse acts of worship.

Before moving to Brussels Arani served as Rector of St Olave Hart Street, in the City of London, and as Area Director of Ministry in the Two Cities of London. Before that he was vicar of Christ Church Upper Armley, Leeds, an inner-city multicultural parish, when he also served as Area Dean of Armley. Prior to that he ministered in Southall and Islington, diverse urban multi-ethnic communities.

Arani is passionate about seeing people come to faith, to grow as active disciples, and develop a deep spirituality. His interests include urban and inter-cultural ministry, community ministry, creative church growth, liturgy and developing people into leadership. He is author of a book Holy Spirit Radicals (MD Publishing 2018) and has sermons published in the Canterbury Preachers’ Companion (2024 and 2026).

He studied theology in Cambridge, having been an ordained at Ridley Hall. As an undergraduate he studied French and German at Royal Holloway, London. Arani is married to Alison, who is a lecturer in adult education. Together they enjoy playing the piano, travel, swimming, skiing, theatre, and concerts.
