Heather Roy

Reader

Heather is a Lay Reader and serves across most of our services at Holy Trinity.  She has lived in Brussels since 1998.  As well as being a Reader, she also helps out with Sunday School and chairs our mission committee but has been known to turn her hand to a few other things as well. Heather is originally from the north of Scotland and her national identity is reflected in her undergraduate degree in Scottish Language and Literature!  She also has two Masters level degrees in International Politics and in Information Technology.  She has also trying to fit in some theology credits from the K.U.Leuven.

Professionally Heather is Secretary General of Eurodiaconia (the European Federation for Christian Social Services and Social Justice).  Prior to this Heather has worked with homeless young people in Glasgow, Scotland and then with the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.  Heather is also currently President of Social Platform, the Europe wide network of Social NGO’s and is also a board member of Social Services Europe and the International Society for Research in Diaconia and Christian Social Practice.

When not studying or working Heather likes to be very social, enjoys cooking, dancing and travelling but can often be found watching Strictly Come Dancing and the West Wing and dreaming of being a sequin wearing, samba dancing politician in a perfect world…
