Orpheus is proud to invite you to its new project during the Holy Week of Easter – the wonderful Stabat Mater from Pergolesi. It will be performed by Luc Feliers (orgue), Aneta Todorova (soprano) and Louisa Njobe-Novachkov (mezzo soprano).
‘Stabat Mater’ is one of Pergolesi’s most celebrated sacred works, achieving great popularity after the composer’s death. Pergolesi composed it during his final days while ill from tuberculosis at the age of 25. The title comes from its first line, Stabat Mater dolorosa, which means “the sorrowful mother was standing” and sings the sorrow of Mary, watching her Son, Jesus, suffering on the cross: ”At the cross her station keeping, stood the mournful mother weeping, close to Jesus to the last”.
The concert will take place on Wednesday, 12th April 2017 at 20:30.
All are welcome. For more information, please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org or to call 0484 95 36 11.
